Much more will indeed come out about the downing of the Malaysia Airlines plane (Flight MH 17) over Ukraine – why did it fly that path? Who shot it down and why? But what we do know is that if Putin had not invaded Crimea, and supported the Ukrainian separatists, this wouldn’t have happened.

I hope that the leaders of the world will now seriously pressure Putin into behaving. The silver lining might be that 295 people had to die in order for Putin to be forced back from his attempt to control Ukraine.

I am not certain that the leaders of Europe and America have the backbone to do so, but I do hope they’ll find it.

In the meantime, all we can do is pray for the dead and their families in this terrible time of grief for them.
